First I thought we should talk about where you can find lithium today. The truth is it’s likely on your body right now, you may be holding it in your hand, or you’re looking directly at it. But you might be surprised to know it’s also used in things like tools, aerospace equipment, military applications and backup storage for our Electric grid. And of course, Tesla’s and other electric cars // Looking to buy a Tesla S or X? Use our referral code and instantly receive $1,000 off and Free Supercharging! Li-ion batteries are a type of rechargeable battery in which lithium ions move from the anode to cathode during discharge, and from cathode to anode when charging. They are a popular choice by electric car manufacturers. Li-ion batteries are also used in cellphones, laptops, and other electronic devices, as well as in the aerospace and defense sector.

It portrays how over the last 150 years mining has made Australia rich, yet created an unending struggle over who shares in the wealth. It reveals how mining helped forge democracy yet has repeatedly plotted to influence politics and even overthrow democratically elected leaders. Whilst mining has also been deeply damaging to Aboriginal society, ironically in the 21st century, it may be aboriginal people's best hope of economic self-determination.
With its vast reserves of lithium, Bolivia has a very valuable natural resource. Mining it with as little foreign involvement as possible would keep the profits and benefits in Bolivia. The lithium lies within a crust of salt, three and a half thousand meters up in the Andes. Find out more: www.dw.de/dw/episode/9798/0,,15846247,00.html
To ensure the company has long term feedstock for their Sileach technology, Lithium Australia has acquired numerous prospective lithium tenements around the world, both in their own right, as well as through the development of numerous strategic alliances. This has seen Lithium Australia have rights to use their sileach technology on numerous projects both in Australia and Mexico.

With the price of oil expected to climb, there's a growing demand for alternatively fueled vehicles. This has sparked a global interest in the natural resource lithium. It's a key ingredient in rechargeable batteries. An estimated 80 percent of the world's lithium is found in Chile, Argentina and Bolivia. Richard Reynolds reports from Salar de Atacama in Chile, the world's largest lithium producer.
I visited this deserted site on the fifth full day of my 2017 trip. Lithium is mined from this dry lake by pumping groundwater out from beneath the lakebed, and evaporating it in large, shallow ponds called "vats". Located next to the historic old mining town of Silver Peak, this is the only active lithium mine in North America. When seen from the air it is strangely beautiful. Go to this page on my website to see more photos of Silver Peak, NV and the Clayton Valley: http://www.raydunakin.com/Site/Silver_Peak_NV.html Be sure to check out the rest of my videos from this trip! Samsung, Sony, Apple and other major tech companies have been accused of profiting from child labor in Africa by using minerals mined by children in their products. The accusation comes in a report submitted by Amnesty International on cobalt mining done in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, which found that young children had been working in dangerous conditions. Lithium-ion rechargeable batteries, which are used by these smartphone manufacturers, have a key component in cobalt. We look at the accusation on the Lip News with Margaret Howell and Jo Ankier. http://arstechnica.com/tech-policy/2016/01/amnesty-international-report-children-mine-cobalt-used-in-gadget-batteries/ Newest Lip News playlist: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UHN4m1wJ734&list=PLjk3H0GXhhGcjJDo6cQBCQprDMQyUQY3r&ind...
